Finally, Dacia, a subsidiary of Renault, has unveiled the updated Spring EV for the global market. The electric car gets a completely revamped exterior and interior. It has a fresh appearance to match the most recent Dacia cars on the global shores, namely the all-new Dacia Duster. The new city car's Y-shaped LED daytime running lamps and slim Dacia grille are two of its most striking design features. Up front, the bumper sports a blacked-out area with vents to circulate air. It also sports primary headlamps on the lower part. From the side, the car appears almost exactly like the previous model. The most notable element here is a set of new 15-inch alloy wheels.
The biggest changes to the exterior are visible at the back. New LED taillights and a revised bumper add to the EV’s tough look. It's further emphasized by a large plastic trim with 'Dacia' branding. Moving inside, you'll see a redesigned dashboard that draws design cues from the recently released Duster. There’s a black theme with contrasting grey and white plastic components. New rotary dials for HVAC controls are now available. A semi-leatherette upholstery is also seen, which may be offered exclusively for top-spec versions of the car.
A 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, cruise control, steering wheel-mounted radio controls, front power windows, rear parking sensors, and central locking are all standard on the electric hatchback. Higher versions, on the other hand, come with a 10-inch touchscreen, air conditioning, dual-mode charging, and other amenities.
Several safety features, including numerous airbags, a reverse camera with parking sensors, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, and more, are included in the 2024 version of the EV. In compliance with the most recent European standards, the Dacia EV is equipped with advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS) such as lane keeping assist and driver attention alert.
2024 Dacia Spring EV: Powertrain
Two electric motor choices are available for the Spring electric model: the higher-spec models have a 48kW (64 bhp) unit, while the entry-level and mid-spec models come with a 33kW (44 bhp) configuration. The EV asserts a range of up to 220 km when these two units are combined with a 26.8kWh battery. According to Dacia, the hatchback supports up to 30 kW DC fast charging in addition to the 7kW AC charger that comes standard with the vehicle.
The Dacia Spring, dubbed as the Renault Kwid EV, is eagerly awaited in India. It will likely receive a number of EV-specific improvements over the local ICE Kwid.
