To compete against the popular Maruti Suzuki Alto K10, Renault launched the Kwid with a 1.0-litre powerplant last year. The car, however, was only on sale in the top-end RxT trims. Now, the Chennai-based car maker has brought a more affordable variant of the Kwid 1.0-litre. The RxL variant with the manual transmission has been priced at Rs 3.54 lakh while the one with the AMT carries a price tag of Rs 3.84 lakh. This new variant is approximately Rs 34,000 cheaper in the manual transmission version and Rs 47,000 in the AMT trim.

The Kwid has been brining Renault considerable success in the small car market. In November 2016, the company announced that they crossed cumulative sales of 1 lakh units and just last week they had already recorded 1.3 lakh units.

While the official brochure of the Kwid hasn’t been updated as yet, going by the variant it is safe to assume that the 1.0-litre RxL will feature passenger-side ORVM, a roof mounted spoiler, 1.0-litre decals on the doors and an air conditioner. It misses out on the large touchscreen infotainment system with navigation and in place comes with a single DIN audio system with AUX and USB inputs.

The Kwid has consistently been the best-selling model for Renault registering an average of 8,000 units each month last year. By launching the RxL variant, Renault wants to take the fight variant-wise to the Alto K10. The Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 is priced between Rs 3.27 lakh to Rs 4.16 lakh. All prices ex-showroom Delhi.
