Renault Kiger, Triber and Kwid Get CNG Option in India
Renault has rolled out the government-approved CNG retrofit kits across its passenger vehicle range. The CNG kits cost Rs 75,000 for the Kwid and Rs 79,500 for both the Triber and Kiger.

Renault has announced the availability of government-approved CNG retrofit kits across its passenger vehicle range, including the Kwid, Triber, and Kiger. The kits start at Rs 75,000 for the Kwid and go up to Rs 79,500 for both the Triber and Kiger. This launch comes after the 2025 model year updates for the Triber and Kiger. Although Renault's CNG option expands its market reach and reflects its commitment to cleaner mobility, it's limited to vehicles with naturally aspirated engines and manual gearboxes. Automatic and turbocharged variants are not eligible for the CNG retrofit. The kits come with a three-year warranty.

Mr. Venkatram M., Managing Director and Country CEO, Renault India, said, ‘Our commitment to innovation and sustainability drives us to continuously improve our offerings. The introduction of the Govt. approved CNG retrofitment kit across all models is a testament to our dedication to providing eco-friendly and smart solutions for our customers.'

Renault Kiger, Triber, Kwid CNG: What’s More?
Renault states that the CNG retrofit kits will be installed by authorised vendors using homologated kits that meet strict safety and performance standards. Every detail of the kit’s development and customisation ensures a consistent and standardised fitment across the network. These CNG-equipped Renault vehicles have undergone rigorous validation to maintain performance and ensure customer satisfaction. The phased rollout will begin in five key states—Haryana, UP, Delhi, Gujarat, and Maharashtra—which account for 65% of the market, with plans for nationwide availability soon.
The Renault Kwid, Kiger, and Triber are all powered by a 1-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine across their respective variants. The Kwid delivers 67bhp and 91Nm, while the Triber and Kiger offer 71bhp and 96Nm. Each model comes with a choice of a 5-speed manual transmission (MT) or a 5-speed automated manual transmission (AMT). It’s important to note that the CNG option is only available with the manual transmission variants, as the AMT variants do not support this fuel type. Additionally, the power and torque figures for the CNG variants are expected to be slightly lower than their petrol counterparts.

Additionally, the Renault Kiger offers a more powerful 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine in some variants, producing 99bhp and 160Nm, but this engine is not available with the CNG option. In terms of pricing, both the Triber and Kiger are available starting at Rs 6.10 lakh, while the Kwid is priced at Rs 4.70 lakh.
