Made to take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Alto and Hyundai Eon, the Renault KWID was unveiled today in the Indian market.

It’s no longer a fact that the Maruti Suzuki Alto is indeed the largest selling car in India. The fact that the small car segment constitutes a very significant portion of the automobile in the Indian market has lured many carmakers to try their luck in an otherwise Japanese-dominated segment. The latest carmaker to join this league is none other than Renault India.

KWID is the latest offering in the small car segment to the Indian customers. KWID looks pretty muscular keeping in mind the competition, thanks to its SUVish looks which can also be attributed to its 180mm ground clearance. The interiors have been made to outshine the competition too. The multimedia cum navigation system can be accessed using a seven-inch screen in the centre console.

The 800cc, three cylinder, petrol engine has been developed by the Renault-Nissan alliance, and the car will be manufactured at the Chennai facility. The car is scheduled to be launched somewhere around the festive season i.e. October-November with price starting from Rs. 3 lakhs.
