Renault hopes to corner a sizable chunk of the worldwide pickup truck market with its next model, which will be based on the Duster. This reveal follows the worldwide launch of the Duster SUV and is meant to replace the Duster Oroch, which has a slightly bigger and more practical appearance. Its imminent release will cause a stir in several regions, most notably South Africa, where it will face off against tough competitors like the Scorpio X pickup truck. The next truck is expected to have enhanced off-road capabilities, even without complete 4WD gear, thanks to the CMF-B chassis that was recently upgraded. The Renault Niagara served as an early teaser for the concept, giving an idea of what has to come.
Duster Pickup Truck: Expected Powertrains
It is expected that the truck will be offered in petrol and petrol-hybrid versions to meet differing market needs, while details about the engine choices are still vague. Even though it won't have a conventional 4WD system, this vehicle will have a number of driving and off-road modes similar to the current Duster. With a front-wheel-drive setup and an e-axle in the back, certain variants will also come with mild-hybrid petrol engines.
There have been rumblings that Renault plans to provide right-hand drive variants of the new vehicle, in addition to the left-hand drive variations that were previously available. In countries like South Africa, where small pickups like the Mahindra Scorpio are highly favoured, this deliberate approach by Renault and Nissan is an attempt to expand their market share. So, the upcoming Mahindra Scorpio X truck, which will make its debut in the South African market first, may face stiff competition from Nissan's and Renault's next-generation entry-level pickups.
Renault Upcoming Models in India
The new Duster and the seven-seat Bigster are among some of the vehicles that Renault is preparing to introduce to the Indian market. Nissan is expected to release its own versions of these cars soon. Nevertheless, the alliance's decision to introduce their new pickup trucks to the Indian market remains unclear. This crucial move has the potential to greatly increase Renault and Nissan's influence in the Indian market, giving customers more choices in vehicles and maybe even a stronger presence overall.
