The Evoque Convertible is priced at Rs. 69.53 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
The love for SUVs has become a global affair now. And it is no wonder that they now come in all shapes and sizes – from compact and full-sized ones to coupe-shaped ones, varied options are available in the market. The arrival of the Range Rover Evoque Convertible adds another one to the list. Priced at Rs. 69.53 lakh (ex-showroom), the Evoque Convertible is the first convertible SUV to be sold in India. At this price, the Evoque Convertible is almost Rs 10 lakh dearer than the HSE Dynamic variant of the standard model.
The Evoque Convertible first broke cover at the 2015 Los Angeles Motor Show. When we first laid our eyes on it, we were smitten by its unique concept of convertible SUV. While in terms of design it has a lot of similarities with the standard Evoque, two easily noticeable differences are, of course, the chopped roof and the two-door style. The Evoque Convertible is 4,370mm long, 1,900mm wide and 1,609mm tall.
Land Rover has only launched the Evoque Convertible in the HSE Dynamic trim. It comes fully loaded with adaptive LED headlights, 360-degree camera, Head-up display and more. To ensure that the standrad trim of the Evoque Convertible is safe, Land Rover has reinforced the door panels and the monocoque chassis. The British car maker has also lined the roof with an acoustic lining to reduce in-cabin noise. The driver can bring the roof down in just 20 seconds at speeds of up to 48km/h. The hood gets tucked into the boot, however, this restricts the boot space to just 251 litres.
JLR has equipped the Evoque Convertible with the 2.0-litre Ingenium petrol motor. This engine sends all of its 237bhp to all four wheels via a 9-speed automatic transmission. Torque rating stands at 340Nm. This takes the Evoque Convertible from a standstill to 100km/h in 8.1 seconds and can record a top speed of 217km/h.
In India, the Evoque doesn't quite have a competitor, for it’s the first convertible SUV to be launched.
