An almost production-ready Mahindra Atom has been spied on test, hinting that the manufacturer could launch the all-electric quadricycle in India soon.
At the 2020 Auto Expo, Mahindra showcased a few concepts and powertrains at its pavilion. One of the concepts was an all-electric quadricycle dubbed the Atom. The Atom is mainly aimed at last-mile urban connectivity, hence the quadricycle gets small and manageable dimensions that are well suited for the tight city space. The Atom EV will feature an electric drivetrain produced in-house by Mahindra.
The key highlights of the Atom EV’s boxy design are large windows that will offer a sense of space for the passengers. The Atom will seat four occupants and the body type will be a two-door. The access to the rear seats will be by folding the co-driver’s seat.
Mahindra had plans to put the Atom EV in production by late 2020 at its facility in Bengaluru. We’re led to believe that the launch of the Mahindra Atom EV will take place very soon as an almost production-ready prototype has been spotted on test.
The key rival to the Mahindra Atom EV will be the Bajaj Qute Electric which is also in the testing phase. Both the EV quadricycles are expected to be priced very competitively.
Currently, Mahindra is all set to announce the prices of all the variants of the new XUV700. So far Mahindra has announced the prices of the AX and the MX manual variants. The price announcement of all the Mahindra XUV700 variants is expected by the first week of October.
