VW’s 3.0 litre diesel engine that powers a range of luxury cars from Audi and Porsche is now under suspicion about being fitted with defeat devices
As part a part of the Volkswagen emissions scandal, Porsche has issue a stop-sale order on the diesel fuelled Cayenne in America. The order comes as a response to the United States Environment Environmental Protection Agency’s confirmation that regulators suspected defeat devices or cheat devices in the Volkswagen 3.0 litre V6 turbocharged diesel engine.
If the suspicions are true then a host of luxury car models from Porsche and Audi will also be affected by the enormous Volkswagen emissions scandal and the associated massive recall. As of now, Porsche USA has issued a statement that sales of the Porsche Cayenne diesel should stop until further notice. The statement further adds, ‘’ "We are working intensively to resolve this matter as soon as possible. Customers may continue to operate their vehicles normally."
However, Volkswagen has denied the latest allegation from the Environmental Protection Agency in regard to its 3.0 litre diesel engine stating that "no software has been installed in the 3-liter, V6 diesel-power units to alter emissions characteristics in a forbidden manner."
Meanwhile closer to home, the Volkswagen India Group has just issued a statement that company representatives had met Government of India officials at the Ministry of Heavy Industries and ARAI on the 29th of October 2015. At the meeting it was agreed that Volkswagen India would present its results from the evaluations regarding the diesel engine emissions topic by the end of November 2015.
