Porsche has launched its second electric car, the all-new Macan Turbo EV in India at a starting price of Rs 1.65 crore (ex-showroom) and the deliveries are set to begin in the second half of the year. This is the second electric vehicle from the German manufacturer, it shares certain aesthetic cues with Porsche's Taycan and has a drastically different look than its ICE equivalent. There will be two trim levels for the Macan EV, the Turbo and the 4. The all-new 718, which is expected to be electric, and the all-electric Cayenne are scheduled to be unveiled later this year by Porsche. The upgraded Taycan is scheduled for March 2024.

Porsche Macan EV: Design
The reworked front fascia of the Macan EV has new daytime running lights (DRLs) with a slit-style design. A front trunk with a capacity of 84 litres sits atop the horizontal headlamp clusters and air intakes that are located beneath the DRLs. Among the more aggressive design cues used by the Macan EV Turbo is the front lip spoiler. The electric variant stands out with its 103 mm longer as compared to the conventional form.

A lower drag coefficient is brought about by a more 'flowing' roofline, and a horizontal brake light is integrated into a black sash-like piece beneath an active rear spoiler at the back. The adaptive rear spoiler, active cooling flaps, and flexible underbody coverings are all part of the standard Porsche Active Aerodynamics package. With a drag coefficient of 0.25 Cd, the Macan EV is second to none among production SUVs, trailing only the record-holding Tesla Model X by 0.01 Cd.
Porsche Macan EV: Interior
The vehicle's cabin is artistically and functionally identical to the current Cayenne. With a 10.9-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 12.6-inch curved instrument cluster as standard, it sports up to three digital displays. The passenger also has the option of a 10.9-inch touchscreen, which allows them to easily modify functions and stream media. The gear selector, like in the Cayenne, has been moved to a higher spot on the dashboard, freeing up room in the centre console for two cupholders and a smartphone charging pad.
Both rows enjoy more legroom and improved comfort as a result of the extended wheelbase. There is an 84-litre frunk in addition to the 540-litre boot for extra storage space.

Porsche Macan EV: Powertrain
The Macan EV is based on the 800-volt PPE architecture and features a 100kWh battery pack as standard (95kWh usable), allowing the base model to reach a maximum range of 613-kilometre and the Turbo model to reach a maximum range of 591-kilometre (WLTP cycle). A quick 270 kW DC fast charge, which can go from 10 to 80 per cent in as less as 21 minutes, and an 11 kW AC charging option are also available.
A dual-motor arrangement is present in both versions. With a peak power output of 630bhp and 1,130Nm of peak torque, the Macan Turbo can reach 260km/h and can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 3.3 seconds. The Macan 4 can reach a peak speed of 220km/h and has an acceleration time of 5.2 seconds from 0 to 100km/h thanks to its 402bhp and 650Nm of torque.
