Nearly 77% of Porsche cars in India sold during the first half of the year were SUVs.
Porsche India has announced a massive jump in sales in the first half of the year. In the first six months of 2022, Porsche India managed to sell 378 vehicles across the country, registering a growth of 118% as compared to the same time period last year.
The German manufacturer said that the numbers were achieved amidst ongoing crises like supply and shortage of semiconductors, which have been plaguing the auto industry across the world. The numbers achieved in 6 months surpasses the yearly sales that the company recorded in 2018, 2019, and 2020.
The last time Porsche India made it to the headlines was at the launch of the Taycan electric supercar, which debuted in India at Rs 1.50 crore (ex-showroom). Deliveries of the car began earlier this year, and it is available in three saloon models – the Taycan, Taycan 4S Turbo and Turbo S – along with the Cross Turismo 4S, Turbo, and Turbo S variants.
In the Indian market, Porsche also said that there is a strong demand for SUVs, which majorly contributed to its sales milestone. The company sold 167 units of the Cayenne and 125 units of the Macan, which make up almost 77% of its overall sales from January to June. The Taycan took the third spot at 37 units. In addition to this, Porsche India sold 27 units of the 911 Coupe and 19 units of the Panamera during the same time period.
