Hoping to hit the target three years early, Porsche said it is pretty hopeful to sell over 2,00,000 cars in 2015. This new wave of hope has hit Porsche after it did record sales in 2014.
These figures look more and more achievable due to the positive response the Cayenne, Macan and Panamera received. In 2014, Porsche sold almost 1,90,000 units which was 17% more than what it sold in 2013. The YoY December sales grew by 39%. Porsche is so sure of its success in 2015 because of the great success the Macan has been enjoying and the German carmaker couldn’t enjoy the buzz it created fully due to the short time frame. The Cayenne and Macan formed 2/3rd of the total sales done by Porsche worldwide.
Porsche has already sold 45,000 Macans worldwide and the new year looks promising for the new Crossover Utility Vehicle (CUV) from Germany. Around 65% of the Macan customers are first time Porsche buyers.
What also makes this theory interesting is the question that can one model sell enough for the company to rely on it and contribute significantly to the sales figures? Owned by the VW group, Porsche contributed to 1/5th of total profit the group made in nine months.
