In a promotional feature for their Hybrid technology, and to debut the new Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid, Porsche did a drive through of the Le Mans winning 919 Hybrid LMP1 car and the hybrid Panamera through the city of London.

The city of London woke up to an unusual day when Porsche had Mark Webber drive his Le Mans winning World Endurance Racing car around the city leading the new Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid which made its public debut.

The cars drove round the city from Park Lane to the South Bank of the River Thames. Webber navigated through the streets of London via Hyde Park Corner, Regents Street, Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, Parliament Square to arrive at the distinctive London County Hall Hotel, adjacent to the famous London Eye.

Using similar principles from the racing prototype, the Panamera E-Hybrid has a 2.9-litre, turbo V6 engine that churns out 330hp and lithium-ion batteries that charge the electric motor which also powers the car with an additional 136hp. Both the engine and the electric motor in tandem have been developed to deliver high performance while also delivering high efficiency. The petrol engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic PDK gearbox that sends power to the all-wheel-drive system.
