The ‘Porsche Design custom-built timepieces’ concept will allow customers to choose from around 1.5 million design options. The chronograph personalisation programme will initially be rolled out only in Germany.
According to Alexander Fabig, Head of Personalization & Classic at Porsche, 'Around 90% of all 911 models are personalised for customers using equipment from Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur.' Keeping in line with this high demand for personalisation, Porsche will now let its customers customise their timepieces. While a Porsche customer has up to 700 exterior and interior options to choose from for personalising his/her vehicle, Porsche Design will offer up to 1.5 million design options for the custom-built timepieces.
Ranging from the colours and materials to the type of leather and stitching, all of these elements will be adopted from the Porsche vehicle to manufacture the custom timepiece at the company’s own workshop in Switzerland. Customers will have the opportunity to choose the colour of the dial, the Titanium case, material and colour of the wrist strap as well as the design and colour of the automatic movement rotor. The entire customisation process can be carried out on the online Porsche Design Timepieces Configurator or the individual timepiece can be ordered with the vehicle from any participating Porsche Centre.
Customers can choose between a glass bead-blasted or PVD titanium carbide-coated black case. While the dial visually evokes the instrument cluster and rev counter of the 911, the auto movement rotor is designed optionally as a Porsche Design Icon Rotor in black, or as a rotor in the design or form of one of the alloy wheels from the current 911 series. To take the personalisation of the watch to the next level, customers can even have a message, name, or their Porsche's chassis number engraved at the bottom of the watch!
This service has been rolled out exclusively in Germany from 1st July and will be extended to the USA and Great Britain from September 2020.
