Porsche's swanky Cayenne Coupé arrives in India. Based on the third-gen Cayenne SUV, the coupe derivative is available with two turbo petrol engines - a 3.0-litre V6 and 4.0-litre V8.
Say hello to the all-new Porsche Cayenne Coupé that’s just landed in India. As you would’ve guessed already, the Cayenne Coupé is a sleeker version of the popular Cayenne SUV. Priced at ₹ 1.31 crore for the standard and ₹ 1.98 crore for the Turbo derivative (both prices are ex-showroom), the Cayenne Coupé is available in two engine options – V6 and V8.
For the uninitiated, the Cayenne Coupé is to Porsche what the likes of X6 and GLE Coupe are to BMW and Mercedes-Benz, respectively. This means these cars share the underpinnings with their SUV counterparts but, on the aesthetic front, they have got the ‘cool’ factor of a coupe. As a consequence, they’re slightly less practical – less rear headroom that is – thanks to a sleeker and slanting roofline. In this regard, the Cayenne Coupé is no different as it, too, has a familiar design for most of the part. However, it’s the rear of the vehicle where the Coupé starts taking shape, with a sloping roofline and a curvier profile. The Cayenne Coupé also has a wider rear track and a wider bumper than the standard Cayenne – overall, the Coupé is wider by 18mm than the SUV.
Inside, the Cayenne Coupé shares most of its features and equipment with the standard Cayenne. The design and layout are also largely identical to the SUV. The cabin is headlined by Porsche Advanced Cockpit, featuring an instrument cluster with two 7-inch screens on either side of an analogue dial. There's also a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Eight-way electrically adjustable seats are also offered. A fixed panoramic roof is standard, but buyers can opt for a lighter carbon-fibre roof.
Two turbo petrol powertrains are offered – a 3.0-litre V6 & 4.0-litre V8. The former develops 335bhp and 450Nm of torque, while the bigger V8 motor churns out 541bhp and 770Nm of torque. Both the engines come paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, sending the drive to all four wheels.
The Cayenne Coupé comes with an adaptive spoiler, which extends by 135mm at speeds above than 90kmph to add more downforce. In addition to this, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) is standard in both the versions and so are 20-inch alloy wheels. You’re also given the option to upgrade to 22-inch wheels.
