Porsche has decided to give the Boxster and Cayman a GTS boost. These mid-engine sports cars are powered by six-cylinder 3.4-litre engines, which are tweaked by 15 hp and ten newton metres of torque. Therefore, the Boxster GTS now boasts off 330 ponies and 370 Nm of torque, while the Cayman GTS delivers 340 hp with 379 Nm of torque. The Boxster GTS’s top speed is 279 km/h, while the faster Cayman GTS does 283 km/h.
With the standard Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) gearbox and Sport Plus mode, the Boxster GTS sprints from 0-100 km/h in 4.7 seconds, while Cayman GTS does it in 4.3 seconds.
The GTS duo is equipped with Porsche’s Active Suspension Management (PASM) system, which includes electronically controlled adaptive dampers. The Sport Chrono Package is a standard feature, which gives these cars improved throttle response, a dash-mounted stopwatch, and launch control. They also boast a few stylish upgrades, like standard 20-inch Carrera S wheels to Alcantara trim inside the cabin. GTS models also include a sport exhaust, giving them an improved exhaust note over typical Boxster S and Cayman S models.
Anil Reddi, Director, Porsche India, says, “With the introduction of the GTS versions of the Boxster and Cayman, we are catering to Porsche purists and true sports car enthusiasts in the country. These two new Porsche sports cars excel visually and dynamically, and assure a rewarding ownership and driving experience.”
The new Boxster and Cayman GTS models are available at Rs 11,500,000 and Rs 11,750,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively. Check out our new April issue for an India exclusive Boxster GTS review.
