Porsche India brought in the one and only Porsche 911 GT3 RS that has been allocated for India which has already been sold.
The track focused lightweight sporty version of the iconic Porsche 911 has arrived in India. The only Porsche 911 GT3 RS that was allocated for the Indian market has arrived for one lucky customer.
What is so special about this 911 over the standard 911 is that this one can do a lap of the Nordschleife, layout of the Nurburgring in seven minutes and 20 seconds, 9 seconds quicker than the time set by the Carrera GT.
The beauty of the the GT3 RS is that it is still something a 911 purist would love. At the heart is a 4.0-litre, flat-6 engine mounted at the back which hasn’t been violated by the modern era of forced induction. A direct injection, naturally aspirated heart that churns out 500hp and 480Nm of torque. That makes it the most powerful non-turbocharged 911 in the range today.
The engine is mounted behind the rear axle, where it has always been in the 911, and is mated to a specially tuned Porsche PDK dual clutch automatic gearbox. The GT3 RS does 0-100km/h in just 3.3 seconds and if you keep you foot glued to the floor for just a little longer it will touch 200km/h in 10.9 seconds. And that is possible because Porsche has thrown everything you wouldn’t need out the window like rear seats and carpets and stuff for the car to weigh only 1,720 kilograms.
The cabin is as stripped out as possible, and you also get a roll cage for added rigidity as standard. To make things easier on track, the GT3 RS also comes with a Paddle Neutral function and a pit lane speed limiter.
To achieve such a light weight for the car, Porsche has made the roof out of Magnesium, the cover for the engine at the rear and the luggage compartment are both made from carbon fibre, in addition to other light weight materials which have been used for other components on the car as well. All this has made the RS 10 kgs lighter than the standard GT3.
The RS also gets rear axle steering with torque vectoring and a variable rear axle differential lock for a better handling on the track helped by with wider tyres for the grip aided by many aerodynamic packages which stick the 911 to the tarmac through fast corners and high speed.
The Porsche 911 GT3 RS is a limited edition vehicle for which Porsche do not reveal the price publicly. But the vehicle will be delivered to the lucky customer via Porsche’s dealership in Bengaluru.
