Following the global premiere of the facelifted 911, Porsche India has launched the new 911 Carrera with the rear-wheel-drive tech, along with the new 911 Carrera 4 GTS. The latter gets all-wheel-drive tech with rear-axle steering. Carrying a price tag of Rs 1.99 crore (ex-showroom, India), the new Porsche 911 Carrera uses a 3.0-litre flat-six twin-turbo boxer engine which is more powerful than before. Thanks to the intercooler and 911 Carrera GTS-derived turbochargers, the engine makes 389bhp (up by 9bhp) and 450Nm of peak torque. Consequently, the 911 Carrera accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 4.1 seconds (3.9 seconds with an optional Sport Chrono Package) before hitting a top speed of 294km/h.

Meanwhile, the new 911 Carrera 4 GTS – priced at Rs 2.75 crore (ex-showroom) – gets a T-Hybrid petrol-electric system, consisting of a new turbocharged 3.6-litre six-cylinder boxer engine, an 8-speed PDK dual-clutch gearbox-mounted electric motor, and a lightweight lithium-ion battery. The engine alone develops 479bhp and 570Nm of torque, while combined output stands at 534bhp and 610Nm.

Compared to the previous 911 Carrera GTS, the new model gets a bump in power by 60bhp. Porsche says 0 to 100km/h comes up in 3 seconds. The car has a maximum speed of 312km/h. Other improvements include rear-axle steering (as standard), a reduced ride height of 10mm, and the sport suspension with a variable damper system. Besides, there is the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) anti-roll stabilisation system in the performance hybrid.

The overall shape of the vehicles remains the same; however, they do get a couple of updates on the outside, including redesigned headlamps and new bumpers. The rear end features revised OLED taillamps, spoiler and diffuser. The 911 Carrera offers 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels, whereas the 4 GTS comes with 20-inch front and 21-inch rear units.

For improved aerodynamics, the Porsche 4 GTS offers new active front air ducts with louvres that open and close based on the cooling demands of the brakes and radiators.
