The Porsche 718 GT4, Spyder and GTS were only offered with a manual version thus far. The PDK-equipped versions of these variants result in quicker acceleration times as 0-100km/h times have reduced by half-a-second!
The entire Porsche 718 range is now available with the company’s seven-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic gearbox. That means the 718 GTS, Spyder, and GT4 variants are now available in automatic versions for the first time since their launch. Thus far, these variants were only offered in enthusiast’s preferred manual gearbox option.
Powering the 718 flagship variants will be the same 4.0-litre naturally aspirated flat-six engine as their manual counterparts. In the GTS derivatives, the power output stands at 394bhp and 420Nm, while in the Spyder and GT4, the engine develops 414bhp and 420Nm. However, thanks to a quick-shifting PDK automatic, the acceleration of all the models has improved substantially. The Spyder and GT4 can clock 0-100km/h in 3.9 seconds – which makes them half a second quicker than their manual versions. The GTS versions are also quicker by 0.5s and will hit 0-100km/h in 4.0 seconds. The new 718 variants also get a Sport Response button that allows the driver ‘to activate maximum engine and transmission performance for 20 seconds’ for overtaking.
In addition to that, the 2021 718 range will get Race-Tex interior that replaces the Alcantara fabric. A new Python Green exterior shade will be offered with the Cayman GT4 and 718 Spyder, while the latter will also get the GT4’s 20-inch Aurum wheels as an option.
Porsche India recently launched the manual versions of the 718 Spyder and 718 GT4 in the country at Rs 1.59 crore and Rs 1.63 crore, respectively (both prices are ex-showroom, pan-India). Expect the PDK equipped versions to be launched in India soon at a slight premium of around Rs 5 lakh – Rs 7 lakh.
