Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi appeared as a guest for Volkswagen at the annual Hannover Messe fair in Germany.
The 64 year old who emerged as the 15th Prime Minister of India following a landslide victory in 2014 General Elections was greeted by Volkswagen global CEO, Dr. Martin Winterkorn.
"India is and will remain an important strategic growth market for the Volkswagen Group,’’ Winterkorn said. “We are convinced that Volkswagen will take on a key role in the Indian automobile market in the long term. We are driving localization in India forward with our new engine assembly plant in Pune.”
The purpose of the visit was to showcase the India-made Vento, along with giving exposure to two apprentices from Volkswagen’s Pune Plant.
