Hyundai RN30 concept to give first glimpse of the upcoming high-performance i30 N hatchback at the 2016 Paris Motor Show on September 29.
It’s been quite a while since Hyundai announced its high-performance ‘N’ division. In the past three years of its operations, the sub-brand has been majorly working on Hyundai’s WRC machines. At the same time, though, a road-going performance car has also been in the works at the 'N' division. And while there's still some time left before it goes fully public, Hyundai is all set to give a preview of its first ever road-going ‘N’ car at the 2016 Paris Motor Show.
Hyundai has confirmed that it will be showcasing its new ‘N’ car in the shape of a concept model at the Paris Motor Show. Dubbed the RN30, the concept previews a new high-performance vehicle that’s based around the new-gen i30 hatchback. Hyundai says the concept model is inspired by the company’s motorsport activities and is developed to deliver ‘pleasure on the track for everybody.’
It’s quite evident that the RN30 will carry a lot of aggression on the outside. As can be seen in the teaser image, the car sits lower, sports massive wheel arches, has larger intakes and sits on a wider track. There’s hasn’t been any confirmation on its powertrain, but it’s expected to come fitted with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol sending power to all four wheels.
Being a high-performance model, handling and speed are going to be the keywords for the new Hyundai. And that’s something which is taken care by Hyundai Motorsport, Hyundai Motor Europe Technical Center and Hyundai Motor’s Performance Development & High Performance Vehicle Division. Add to that the fact that the N division is headed by former BMW M-division chief engineer, Albert Biermann, and you simply can’t bet against the new high-performance hatchback.
