It's officially the world's most expensive car, and it's sold out already . . .
The ultra-rare pagani Zonda HP Barchetta, which was unleashed at the 2017 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, has got an eye-watering price tag. The hypercar is priced at €15 million (~ ₹120 crore), that too before taxes. This makes it the most expensive car in the world.
If you happen to have that much spare cash lying around, you still cannot buy one. It's a bummer, I know! You see, only three of these special edition Zondas were built, one of which belongs to Pagani’s founder, while the other two have already found takers.
The Zonda HP Barchetta, which is built by Pagani’s Uno-di-Uno division, has a cropped windshield, partially covered rear tyres, and contrasting alloy wheels – blue on the right and silver on the left. It also borrows many carbon-titanium composite components from the Huayra. The plush cabin of the Barchetta comes wrapped in ivory leather.
Powering this rare Pagani is a Mercedes-AMG sourced V12 engine which generates around 790 horsepower. What adds to the Zonda HP Barchetta’s exclusivity is its 6-speed manual transmission, which is a rare sight on modern hypercars.
It has been speculated that the Zonda will finally retire after its long run of almost two decades, and this HP Barchetta is its final special edition variant. Well, we have been hearing the same since the Huayra’s launch in 2012, but every now and then a new special edition Zonda pops. And that’s not a bad thing at all. . .
