Ola Electric has plans to make its presence stronger in the EV space of the Indian automotive industry. The firm is already working upon a four-wheeled electric hatchback, which is likely to break cover by the end of this year.
Bhavesh Aggarwal, CEO, Ola Electric, has given us a peek at the concept of the Ola electric car, which is in the development process. The plan is to introduce the Ola electric car by 2023; however, delivery dates are yet to be confirmed. The Ola four-wheeler EV project has been funded by Softbank Group, Japan.
Ola had already announced that the company had secured $200 million in fundraising from Falcon Edge, Softbank, in September 2021, with plans to make India a global electric vehicle hub. Ola’s goal is quite possible, as the firm claims to have the largest manufacturing facility for its EV scooter in Chennai. We suspect the Ola electric car will be produced alongside the S1 Pro electric scooter.
So far, the Ola Electric car is in the designing stage, and there is no mechanical data available. So we cannot be sure of the segment that Ola is planning to position its upcoming car in. However, the upcoming Ola electric car is likely to be positioned alongside the Tata Tigor EV. That said, by the time deliveries of the Ola electric car will commence, Tata motors will most likely strengthen its position in the EV space.
