The new Hyundai Inster XRT has a rugged-looking appearance, just like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 XRT unveiled in early September 2024.

Hyundai is readying an off-road-oriented XRT variant of the Inster electric SUV, which made its global debut with a 355km range in June 2024. Similar to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 XRT unveiled this month, the new Hyundai Inster XRT looks rugged. While a large part of the test mule is camouflaged, a close look at the Inster XRT reveals its round LED headlamps, reinforced bumpers front and rear, extra body cladding, and blacked-out wheels with beefy tyres (probably all-terrain units).

Like the Hyundai Casper-based Inster, the Inster XRT could offer pixel-graphic turn signals; however, expect it to feature bigger alloy wheels (18-inch units). Other expected elements include roof rails, more robust skid plates, and a dual-tone exterior.

Hyundai Inster XRT: Interior

The Inster's interior draws inspiration from the ICE-powered Casper. The car features large 10.25-inch screens, a sunroof, heated front seats, a wireless charging port, 64-colour LED ambient lighting, and ADAS. It remains to be seen how the company will spec the Inster XRT. Like the Inster EV, the XRT is expected to get a spacious cabin and additional space for the underfloor battery pack.

Hyundai Inster XRT: Powertrain

While we do not yet know the battery and motor specifications, we expect the Hyundai Inster XRT to get a 49kWh battery and a 111.4bhp electric motor. With the same battery and electric motor, the regular Inster claims a range of 355km and a top speed of 150km/h. A 120kW DC fast charger can charge the Inster from 10% to 80% in under 30 minutes. It can accelerate from a halt to 100km/h in a claimed time of 10.6 seconds.

There is still some time for the standard Inster EV to arrive on our market, likely after the introduction of the Creta EV. The Creta EV will be launched in January 2025 in India, and it will be the company's first mass-market EV for India.
