The new-generation Nissan X-Trail SUV will be launched in the Indian market in August 2024. While the exact launch date is still under wraps, we expect it to happen in the first week of the month. A day ago, Nissan revealed the X-Trail in the country and said it would launch the SUV in limited numbers.
Based on the Alliance CMF-C platform, the X-Trail will come with a sole 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine paired with a 12V mild-hybrid system, good enough for 161bhp and 300Nm of maximum torque. Transmission duties will be taken care of by a shift-by-wire CVT automatic unit having a claimed negligible rubberband effect. We won't get an AWD variant here, unlike some international markets.

The X-Trail will mark its return with a dark chrome-finished V-Motion grille, split headlamps, LED daytime running lights, 20-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, rounded wheel arches, wraparound tail-lamps, and three colour options (Diamond Black, Champagne Silver, and Solid White). Compared to the Qashqai sibling, the X-Trail will be 255mm longer, 5mm wider, and 100mm taller. It will be 4,680mm in length, 1,840mm in width, and 1,725mm in height. It will have a longer wheelbase at 2,705mm, about 40mm more than its platform sibling.
Nissan X-Trail: Features
Features-wise, we know that the X-Trail will pack in a freestanding touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, a digital driver's display, a three-spoke steering wheel, a dual-pane sunroof, a wireless phone charger, keyless entry, paddle shifters, and dual-zone climate control. Electronic aids will include an electronic parking brake, traction control, cruise control, a limited-slip differential, auto hold, hill-start assist, and ABS, while Nissan will prioritise safety with seven airbags, a 360-degree camera, parking sensors, and auto wipers.
A 40:20:40 split-fold arrangement will be available for the second row, along with sliding and reclining functions. Nissan will also offer 50:50 split-folding rear seats that also slide and recline. The X-Trail will be sold in a seven-seat configuration in the country, although five-seat and seven-seat versions are available for the model sold abroad.
Nissan X-Trail: Price
The fourth-generation X-Trail will be the company's second model for India after the Magnite compact SUV. It will be brought to our market through a CBU (completely built unit) route. Considering this, Nissan could set the upcoming SUV's pricing between Rs 35 lakh and Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom).
