The fourth-generation Nissan X-Trail SUV will be launched soon in India. Just before the launch, the Japanese carmaker has given a preview of the interior of the SUV through a new teaser trailer. The teaser video opens with a look at the dashboard, which has a soft-touch finish. The freestanding touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay connectivity perches atop the dashboard. The central air-con vents sit below the screen and above what appears to be a control panel for the climate control system. Other noticeable bits include a digital driver's display, a three-spoke steering wheel, a dual-pane sunroof, a wireless phone charger, keyless entry, and a second-row bench seat along with two more seats for rear-seat passengers. The latter suggests that the Nissan X-Trail will be offered in a seven-seat configuration in the country, while the global-spec version comes in 5-seat and 7-seat options.

For safety, the teaser reveals the presence of an electronic parking brake, cruise control, and an auto-hold function. Safety equipment is expected to also include an ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems) suite. The previous teaser videos have revealed split headlamps, inverted L-shaped LED daytime running lights, a V-Motion grille, wraparound tail lamps, and dual-tone alloy wheels. One can expect the vehicle to come with a shark-fin antenna, an integrated spoiler, and door cladding.

Nissan X-Trail: Powertrain

The new X-Trail will be built on the Alliance CMF-C platform, which focuses on lightweight construction. Overseas, the model gets multiple powertrain options, including a 1.5-litre hybrid and a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol. But, the latter is expected to find a home in the India-spec X-Trail. In the global-spec model, the 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine makes 201bhp and 305Nm of peak torque while being mated to a CVT gearbox.

Upon arrival, the fourth-generation X-Trail will join the Magnite compact SUV in Nissan India's lineup. It could see its pricing between Rs 30 lakh and Rs 35 lakh (ex-showroom).
