Nissan will commence reservations for the X-Trail in India on 26 July 2024 for a token amount of Rs 1 lakh, ahead of the launch in August. The mid-size SUV has split headlamps, a dark chrome-finished V-Motion grille, rounded wheel arches, LED daytime running lights, 20-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, and wraparound taillamps. It comes with a 360-degree camera, traction control, automatic wipers, and hill-start assist for safety. In India, Nissan will offer the X-Trail with a seven-seat configuration. The third row has 50/50 split-folding and reclining options, while the second row features 40/20/40 split-folding, sliding, and reclining choices. Given that the X-Trail will be a CBU, you can expect it to cost higher somewhere around Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom). Read on for more details.

Nissan X-Trail: Powertrain
At its heart, Nissan's mid-size SUV will have a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine with a 12V mild-hybrid system, producing 161bhp and 300Nm. It will feature a shift-by-wire CVT automatic gearbox with a claimed negligible rubberband effect. In contrast to certain other markets, we will not receive an AWD option.

The X-Trail will offer numerous amenities, including a wireless phone charger, keyless entry, a freestanding touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, a dual-pane sunroof, a digital driver's display, and a three-spoke steering wheel. In terms of electronic aids, it will include a limited-slip differential, auto hold, ABS, electronic parking brake, traction control, and cruise control.
Nissan X-Trail: Competition
The Nissan SUV will go head-to-head against the Jeep Meridian, the Skoda Kushaq, the Volkswagen Tiguan, the Toyota Fortuner, and the Hyundai Tucson in India.
Nissan Other Developments
Besides the X-Trail, Nissan plans to introduce more models in the market, including the revised Magnite. According to industry reports, the Japanese automaker will also launch a budget-friendly EV, a compact 5-seat SUV, and a medium-size 7-seat SUV in India. These models will help the company increase its market share in the country.

As of now, Nissan only offers the Magnite in India, with prices ranging between Rs 6 lakh to Rs 11.27 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The SUV locks horns with a range of models in the segment such as the Hyundai Venue, the Kia Sonet, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, the Mahindra XUV 3XO, and the Tata Nexon.
