After a load of teasers and online promotions, Nissan India finally unveiled the new Terrano SUV. Everyone expected yet another badge-engineered product, as has been the case with cars launched earlier by Renault (Scala and Pulse). But Nissan took everyone by surprise.
There are a bunch of changes that Nissan has made to the exterior. This is in fact the 4th generation of the car but Nissan maintains that this car is made solely for India and in India. The Compact SUV’s design is in line with the Patrol and Pathfinder SUV’s and we see that everything right from the bumpers, tailgate, headlamps, tail-lights and an all-new grille is all about defining this design language.
The Terrano gets similar interiors as the Duster and it might also get the engine options. So, a 1.6-litre petrol option, and two diesel engine options.
Kenichiro Yomura, president, Nissan India operations, said, “The Terrano follows the same design language as our Pathfinder and Patrol SUVs and makes a strong statement, which is a key differentiator in this segment. It marks our entry into the compact SUV segment, which is one of the fastest growing segments in the Indian market today. We are confident that the Terrano SUV will appeal both to existing real SUV lovers and consumers looking to graduate to SUVs.”
Nissan will begin pre-sales bookings from September 1, 2013, while the car will go on sale across India in October. Nissan promises the customers that the Terrano SUV will come with a sub-Rs 10 lakh price tag.
