Nissan revealed the all-new look of its SUV X-Trail at the Frankfurt motor show and this time around Nissan knows perfectly well about where to position this car. The X-Trail will be the sole SUV to be offered with seven seats once the Qashqai makes its way next year.
Most of the new X-Trails styling cues are borrowed from the Hi-Cross concept that the company showcased at the 2012 Geneva Motorshow. The new X-Trail is said to be as capable as the current car off-road; when equipped with the optional four-wheel drive system.
The X-Trail will get a significantly updated version of the current 2.0-litre diesel engine, optionally mated to a newly-developed Xtronic CVT gearbox.
Renault-Nissan top boss Carlos Ghosn said, "The X-Trail introduces a new platform (Common Module Family) that will be rolled out over next five years on everything from a small Indian market car to a large premium offering.”
