Nissan Motor India has recalled 22,188 of its hatchback- Micra and sedan – Sunny to replace the master brake cylinder. Nissan will start notifying the individual customers and the dealers will replace the master brake cylinder free of charge and the entire thing would take a total of 40 minutes to repair.
Nissan has recalled a total of 67,089 Micra and Sunny vehicles covering Africa, Asia and Europe for the same fault. Of the total global recall of 2.5 lakh units, over 9,600 Micra cars were manufactured at the company’s Oragadam plant in Tamil Nadu and sold in Europe.
But India isn’t part of this global exercise as the problem pertains to the fuel rail pressure sensor used in direct injection type engines of some of its models.
Both the Micra and the Sunny have done good business in India for Nissan and the launch of the Sunny with an automatic transmission only shows that the Japanese car maker wants to expand it product portfolio in India.
With Nissan planning to launch the low-cost brand Datsun in India soon, Nissan is taking every precaution in calling a spade, a spade and reassuring the customers that their cars are taken care of.
