Nissan launches the Micra facelift and Micra Active

Nissan launched a facelifted version of its Micra hatchback. In addition to this facelift Micra, Nissan also launched a low-cost variant of the Micra – the Micra Active. The Japanese company has priced the Micra Active at Rs 3.5 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Nissan has powered this low-cost Micra Active with a 1.2-litre petrol engine and says that it delivers a handsome 19.49km/l (ARAI claimed). The Micra Active will be available in three variants - the XE, XL and XL (Safety) and will boast of features like dual airbags, central locking and EBD, among others.

Moving on to the facelifted Micra, Nissan has made the front grille bigger and pulled back the headlamps which is why it looks more aggressive than its predecessor. The bonnet and front fenders are redesigned and the overall length of the car increases by 45mm.

LED tail lamps make their way into this facelifted Micra along with new (what look like Renault-badge shaped) alloy wheels. Nissan has introduced some additional features like – keyless entry and go, climate control, Bluetooth connectivity, USB and Aux-in ports and even a reversing camera.

The new Nissan Micra comes in four trim levels in the diesel and three in petrol. Nissan has equipped this new generation of Micra with a CVT automatic gearbox in addition to the 5-speed manual transmission.

The CVT box will is available only with the 1.2-litre petrol variant. Nissan says that the CVT is exceptionally fuel efficient and claims an economy figure of 19.34 km/l, which is more than the five-speed manual’s fuel economy figures (18.44 km/l). The 1.5-litre diesel on the other hand delivers 23.08km/l

Nissan has priced the new Micra petrol in the range of Rs. 4.79-Rs 6.79 (CVT) lakhs and Rs. 5.9-Rs. 7.14 lakhs for the diesel (all prices ex-showroom Delhi)
