After BMW, Maruti and Hyundai, now Nissan increases prices of all its models applicable from January 2015.
2014 was a year not so good for some of the carmakers in India. With not so impressive sales figures and increasing input costs, some carmakers decided to increase the prices of their models in the new year. BMW, Maruti and Hyundai have already announced their plans for 2015. Recent one to join the bandwagon is Nissan which today announced that it will also follow suit by increasing the prices of its cars in January 2015.
Nissan cars’ prices will rise by 2.5% which boils down up to Rs. 18,000. In Datsun’s case, it will rise by 3% which translates up to Rs. 11,000. This move is also an important one for the Japanese car manufacturer as the recently launched Datsun Go is trying to make an impact in the Indian market and the Nissan cars have also slowly managed to get noticed despite having a stiff competition. Nissan also plans to expand its portfolio in the Indian market in the years to come, by still providing the same cutting-edge technology, distinctive design and a rewarding experience to all its customers the brand is known for.
Commenting on the price rise, Mr. Arun Malhotra, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. said, “We have increased prices due to rising input costs, although we are confident Nissan and Datsun vehicles will continue to offer excellent value and choice to our customers. Despite recent high inflation, the outlook for the Indian economy is positive.”
