In late August this year, Skoda Auto revealed the interior of the fourth-generation Superb. This time, the Czech automaker has released the first set of design sketches of its upcoming sedan. The global debut of the next-generation Superb is slated to take place on November 2, followed by its launch in 2024. As far as the Indian market is concerned, Skoda is gearing up to reintroduce the luxury sedan under the government's GSR 870 rule, which allows manufacturers to import up to 2,500 units of right-hand-drive vehicles categorised under the M and L segments without the need for homologation. Earlier in June, the carmaker silently removed the Superb from its official website, indicating that the model had been discontinued for the domestic market. However, the current-generation Superb will make a comeback as a completely built-up unit in India in the coming months. But before that happens, Skoda's 2024 Superb will be revealed next month for the international market. Similar to other Skoda models, the latest version of the Superb will be based on the new 'Modern Solid' design language that debuted in the second half of 2022.

The exterior design sports 'sharply drawn lines, clearly defined and dynamic proportions, and a modern sculptural and crystalline styling'. The front end of the 2024 Superb features a butterfly grille with chrome lining and upgraded LED Matrix beam headlights, while the rear end gets redesigned LED taillights. Other bits include thin LED daytime running lights and revised front & rear bumpers.
Next-Gen Skoda Superb: Interior, Features
Inside, the new Superb gets a new interior as well as a minimalist dash design with a 13.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Plus, there are smart rotary dials with 1.25-inch built-in displays below the infotainment system – three in total: two outer knobs for seat ventillation and heating, while the one in the centre controls fan speed, air conditioning, infotainment volume, etc. The gear selector is now located on the steering wheel column, much like in Mercedes-Benz cars, which is another significant alteration. This, in turn, frees up more room between the front seats. Other bits include vertically stacked vents, USB-C ports, massage seats, and 4-way adjustable lumbar support.
Next-Gen Skoda Superb: Powertrain, Performance
The Skoda Superb is based on an updated version of the MQB platform, just like the majority of the forthcoming ICE-powered vehicles from the Volkswagen Group. Under the skin, the Superb will receive two diesel, three petrol, and a plug-in hybrid powertrain, all mated to a 7-speed automatic gearbox, save for the electrified version as that one features a 6-speed DSG.
