German car makers Mercedes-Benz have just launched the new generation of their entry-level luxury sedan – the C-class – in India. According to the company the all-new C-class, which is their most popular model in India, is a technological evolution that combines advanced telematics with new IT systems. On the outside the car has undergone some significant design changes that make it look more modern and stylish, and Mercedes-Benz calls this ‘emotional design’. The car gets a newly designed front-end with a three dimensional radiator grill and new dynamics LED headlights. The new C-class is also longer, wider and lighter than its predecessor, and therefore the car gets a more muscular and athletic stance on the road. The rear end has also gone under the knife to look sharper and there are also newly designed taillights with LEDs. On the inside the new C-class looks more luxurious and with better ergonomics, including a new high-tech dashboard with a new multimedia and Audio system. The seats are sporty and are covered with Artico leather, and the rear seats get newly designed cushions to enhance comfort and there is also added legroom. The passengers can also choose from three different ambient lighting modes in the cabin to suit their mood. Under the hood, the new C-class gets a 4-cylinder turbocharged 2.0 litre petrol engine that can generate 181bhp and can reach 100km/h from a standstill in 7.3 seconds. The engine is mated to beautifully engineered 7G-Tronic Plus auto transmission with dynamic response and the steering wheel will also get paddle shifters. There are also added safety features that include attention-assist, hill start assist, Pre-Safe, along with ABS, ESP, and 7 airbags. The all new C 200 petrol variant is priced at Rs. 40.9 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi), and within a year we will also see the Diesel variant make its way to our shores.
