After teasing the fourth-gen A8 for months, Audi is finally going to drop the veil on its flagship sedan on July 11, 2017.
The fourth-generation Audi A8 is almost here as it’s just a day away from its global unveiling. The flagship Audi saloon will be making its first ever public appearance tomorrow at Audi Summit in Barcelona, Spain.
With its sights set firmly on arch rivals like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and BMW 7 Series, the new Audi A8 has a lot riding on its shoulders. But, can it deliver? Well, going by how Audi has been promoting the upcoming sedan it seems that the firm has loaded it with everything under the sun so as to get the better of its rivals.
Starting off with its design, the new Audi A8 will be inspired by Audi’s Prologue concept, meaning it’s going to be a looker. While the new model is sure to retain the familiar design cues of other cars in the family, the next-gen A8 will mark a significant improvement over the current gen model. Also, the new Audi A8 is based on the firm’s MLB evo platform that results in massive weight savings.
Powertrain options on the new A8 should include Audi V6 and V8 petrol and diesel engines, while there will be a W12 petrol that should sit at the top of the range. A plug-in hybrid may also be introduced. Audi’s signature quattro all-wheel drivetrain will be standard across the range, and so will be a 48V mild hybrid system.
Technology wise, the new A8 is expected to take the game forward like never before. The interior will most likely feature an all-digital dashboard with haptic touch. The new A8 also meets “Level 3” autonomous tech, which is the most advanced for a production car. Among other highlights, it will have remote parking control, adaptive suspension system, foot massager, and many more features.
All details and specifications of the new Audi A8 will be revealed tomorrow at Audi Summit in Barcelona. Stay tuned as we bring all of that and more soon after the car makes its debut…
