Car Manufacturers are learning from Hollywood and Bollywood stars, that the only way to get noticed is to drop the top, but when Bentley decides to do it to their flagship car you understand that it is more than attention seeking.

Bentley has pulled the wraps off its Continental GT Speed Convertible, which is to be unveiled at the North American International Motorshow, Detroit, on the 14th of January. A lot has been changed to make give the  convertible a sporty look; like the 21-inch alloy wheels, dark-tint grilles and ‘rifled’ exhaust tail pipes. But apart from these cosmetic changes, its the engineering advancements that make the GT Speed Convertible the fastest of its kind in the world. Under the hood is a 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged W12 engine that churns out 616bhp and all this power helps it achieve a top speed of 325kmph. It generates a torque of 800Nm@2000rpm and the 8-speed transmission just allows for a seamless and effortless driving experience. The aluminium double-wishbone front suspension and the revised air suspension springs and dampers make the GT Speed convertible agile and quick. It also gets the self-levelling system which is set 10 mm lower than the Continental GT convertible. With stiffer suspension bushes and uprated anti-roll bars the convertible handles like a dream. The permanent four- wheel drive too adds to the quick-on-its-feet feature of this car. The Continental GT Speed convertible sprints from 0-100kmph in 4.4 seconds

Inside you'll find a cabin of the Mulliner Driving Specification, hand-crafted that too with its distinctive diamond-quilted hide upholstery. The infotainment system features the latest software upgrades as well as point of interest mapping, optional satellite landscape imagery, live traffic data and digital radio. With 15 GB of available music space, as well as the facility to play music via an iPod, MP3 player, the car’s own six-disc CD changer or SD card, you have all the options you need on the move. Its quick, its fun with the top down and it will come at a price but open top motoring has certainly been redefined, courtesy Bentley.
