Volkswagen has taken the wraps off the updated Touareg SUV. The German automaker has revealed the third-generation model for the global market with a range of exterior and interior modifications. A new front fascia with a reworked grille and optional matrix headlights are a part of the SUV's cosmetic makeover. According to Volkswagen, the new headlamps have more than 38,000 interactive LEDs, which promise a glare-free primary beam and illuminate the road more precisely. The automaker has made changes to the taillights of the SUV to integrate the same trio of L-shaped components. On the inside, the centre console now includes soft surfaces on either side. According to the firm, the cockpit in the Touareg SUV now features the most contemporary hardware and software. Let's have a closer look at all the updates available with the new SUV.

New Volkswagen Touareg SUV: Powertrain
Speaking of the powertrain, the redesigned SUV now offers 5 engine options. There are two turbocharged diesel engines, two plug-in hybrids, and a turbocharged petrol engine available. No matter the engine, an eight-speed automatic gearbox and 4Motion all-wheel drive are standard on all variants. According to Volkswagen, a roof load sensor has been fitted, and the engineers have improved the comfort of the optional air suspension as well as the regular steel suspension.

Design-wise, a range of modifications have been made to the front and rear. The radiator grille, headlights, and front apron have been given a fresh look in terms of style. Further, the back design has been made more angular. The taillight clusters now feature a continuous horizontal LED strip and the red-illuminated Volkswagen logo. Talking about the inside, the new SUV, according to Volkswagen, has an all-new digital instrument cluster for the driver and a more upscale infotainment system.

The Touareg was Volkswagen's first SUV when it debuted in 2002. According to the carmaker, it catalyzed the brand's subsequent growth into one of the top global full-range providers. Further, the Touareg SUV also established a popular car type that the company offers in every market group. According to Volkswagen, the model maintains a successful level of long-distance, towing, and off-road vehicle excellence. Since its initial release in 2002, over 1.13 million units of the SUV have been sold.
