Volkswagen A0 Compact SUV: Key Highlights
The upcoming Ao compact SUV will be built on the MQB-A0 platform that also supports a variety of globally sold models like the Polo hatchback, the Nivus SUV, and the T-Cross. It is identical to the MQB-A0-IN architecture, which is heavily localised and capable of accommodating a variety of body shapes and wheelbases.

With greater economies of scale, the platform helps to increase productivity and speed up the production of different products. It has a transverse engine setup that is inclined a bit forward, with the same distance between the pedals and the center of the front wheel across all models. This configuration produces plenty of cabin room in addition to alignment at the front end.
Notably, the MQB-A0-IN architecture supports the Volkswagen Taigun, Virtus, Skoda Kushaq, and Slavia in India. It will also underpin the upcoming Skoda Kylaq.
In terms of design, the compact SUV will probably feature a slender black grille, a raised bumper, body-coloured door handles, and ORVMs, a darkened fog lamp assembly, black roof rails, coupe-like roofline, and LED DRLs connected by a chrome strip. On the back, there probably will be a connected LED taillamp unit.

Volkswagen has not revealed any details about the powertrain. Industry reports, however, indicate that the car will be powered by the same 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine as the Volkswagen Virtus, Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, and Slavia. The gearbox options include a 6-speed manual and a torque converter automatic.
