The new Toyota Fortuner gets off to a flying start in the Indian market, registering over 5,400 bookings and 16,000 enquiries within two weeks of its launch.
Roughly two weeks ago, Toyota India launched the new Fortuner in the country, and now the expected has happened. Customers are already lining up outside Toyota dealerships across the country to get their brand new Fortuner home. As per Toyota, the company has received over 5,400 bookings and more than 16,000 customer enquiries for the new Fortuner since its launch in India.
Given the popularity of the old model as well as customers’ trust in the brand, the new Fortuner was bound to do well. Deliveries of the new Fortuner have already commenced in the country, meaning soon you will be seeing a lot of them on the roads, just like the old Fortuner. Speaking of the outgoing model, Toyota says that it has sold over 1 lakh units of previous gen Fortuner in the Indian market since 2009.
Unlike the old Fortuner, the new model is also offered with a petrol engine alongside the diesel variants. Powertrain options on the new Fortuner include a 174bhp/420Nm 2.8-litre diesel and a 2.7-litre petrol engine that churns out 163bhp and 245Nm. The diesel variants are offered with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox whereas the petrol gets either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic. 4WD is only available with the diesel version. The new Fortuner is priced between Rs 25.92 lakh and Rs 31.12 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Commenting on the development, Mr. N. Raja, Director & Sr. Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Toyota India, said, “We are overwhelmed with the response that the new Fortuner has garnered in just two weeks’ time since its launch. We have noticed a significant customer preference towards the automatic transmission and trying our best to deliver the product to the customer at the earliest so that they don’t have to wait too long.”
