New Toyota EV Teased Ahead of Global Debut on March 12
While details are scarce, the upcoming Toyota EV is expected to be the production model of the 2022 bZ Compact SUV concept.

Toyota has released a teaser of the new electric vehicle ahead of its global debut on March 12, 2025. While specifics remain scarce, the upcoming EV is anticipated to be the production model of the bZ Compact SUV concept, which made its debut in 2022. It is also likely to sit between the bZ4X and the Urban Cruiser EV and fill an important gap in Toyota’s international lineup. While details about the launch of this new electric vehicle in India remain undisclosed, the price for its sibling, the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV, is expected to be announced later this year. However, the company has yet to confirm this. Let’s take a closer look at the key insights from the latest teaser.
New Toyota EV: Teaser Highlights
The teaser reveals only a few key details, highlighting a sleek fastback profile, a long bonnet, and a C-pillar that stretches to the rear boot lip. Despite the low roofline, the vehicle sits with a higher stance, in line with Toyota’s promise of elevated driving dynamics. It also hints at offering exceptional space, comfort, versatility, and a strong emotional connection.

New Toyota EV: Expected Specifications
Currently, there is no official information regarding the size or powertrain of Toyota’s upcoming EV. However, if the model is based on the production version of the bZ Compact SUV concept, we can expect it to have the same dimensions around 4,540mm in length and 1,564mm in height. If this turns out to be accurate, the vehicle will be approximately 152mm shorter and 90mm lower than the larger Toyota bZ4X.
The upcoming EV is expected to be built on Toyota's versatile TNGA platform, and dual electric motors on both the front and rear axles. This same configuration is found in the smaller Urban Cruiser electric SUV, which offers two battery choices: 49kWh and 61kWh.
