Porsche has revealed its quickest machine ever, the 2025 Taycan Turbo S. In a claimed time of 2.3 seconds, the new Taycan Turbo S can hit 97km/h (60mph), making it the fastest-accelerating production car by the Stuttgart-based carmaker. Yes, you read that right. The updated Taycan Turbo S electric vehicle's twin-motor powertrain—consisting of a bigger 98.6kWh battery pack and two motors—makes a bonkers 939bhp (or 700kW), which is an additional 188bhp when using Launch Control. This results in a 0 to 97km/h sprint time of 2.3 seconds, which is 0.3 seconds quicker than the iconic Porsche 918 Spyder. At the heart of the hypercar's hybrid powertrain are a naturally aspirated 4.6-litre V8 engine and two electric motors with all-wheel drive, resulting in the combined output of 875bhp and 1,280Nm.
New Porsche Taycan: Powertrain Tweaks
Speaking of the powertrain, Porche has equipped all Taycan models with a new rear-axle motor, which now weighs about 9 kilograms less and generates up to 107bhp more than the predecessor. Moreover, the German automobile manufacturer also claims improvements in terms of efficiency and range. Offered in a total of eight variants, the 2025 Taycan is kitted out with new batteries with revised cell chemistry. The base, rear-wheel-drive version gets an 83.6-kWh net battery pack, while the new Performance Battery Plus, which is standard on the Turbos and optional on the base Taycan and the 4S Taycan, has a larger 98.6kWh battery.
With a higher nickel content, the new battery pack maintains the same dimensions as the outgoing unit while offering an increased battery capacity. According to Porsche, this is the reason the new Performance battery weighs 8.6 kilograms less than the previous one, while the Turbo S is claimed to have a 15-kg less kerb weight, albeit with additional standard equipment. As for the range, the Turbo S (on the European WLTP cycle) is claimed to yield a range of 629 kilometres, although the EPA figures of the new Taycon are yet to be revealed.

New Porsche Taycan: Charging Capabilities
Porsche says the updated Taycan can be charged at 800-volt DC charging stations at up to 320kW under ideal conditions, which is 50kW more than before. Also on offer is a 150 kW DC/DC converter as standard. Meanwhile, the charging time required to reach 80 per cent from 10 per cent is 18 minutes (claimed), as against 37 minutes in the outgoing model.
New Porsche Taycan: Energy-regeneration Capabilities
Another factor that the Porsche Taycan's improved performance and efficiency have been attributed to is a modified recuperation capacity. Compared to older all-wheel drive models (290kW), the new Taycan can generate up to 400kW (536bhp). Other notable enhancements include aerodynamically optimised wheels, reduced-rolling-resistance tyres, revised thermal management (including a next-generation heat pump), a modified pulse inverter with optimised software, and others.
New Porsche Taycan: Chassis Updates
Chassis-wise, the adaptive air suspension is standard, while the new Porsche Active Ride suspension is optional on all-wheel-drive models.
New Porsche Taycan: Styling, Features
Up front, the new Taycan sports redesigned LED headlights, reshaped air vents, and flatter fenders, while the rear end features a light strip with a three-dimensional, glass-look design. The cosmetic updates also include new paint schemes, with the Turbo and the Turbo S getting a Turbonite finish. On the feature front, the electric sports car comes standard with ambient lighting, a heated steering wheel, electrically folding exterior mirrors, Porsche Intelligent Range Manager (PIRM), electric charging ports, Drive Mode, and more.
Meanwhile, the upgrades to the interior include a revamped gauge cluster as well as an updated infotainment system featuring a redesigned user interface with additional functions. For models with the Sport Chrono package and the Performance Battery Plus, there is a push-to-pass button for additional power. You also get leather-free interior options in Black and Black/Slate Grey, depending on the model selected.
