Porsche has finally revealed its latest electric sportscar, the Porche Taycan Turbo GT, which is a monumental leap forward in performance. Amazingly, the Taycan Turbo GT has lost a great deal of weight and gained a lot of power, now boasting 1092bhp and 1,339 Nm of torque. An abundance of carbon fibre components characterises this amazing vehicle, beginning with its streamlined body and continuing through its lighter wheels and finishing in a distinctive carbon fibre rear wing. These upgrades are complemented with a cutting-edge power converter. The Taycan Turbo GT has been through a full mechanical overhaul, including improvements to the chassis, powertrain, and aerodynamics, further establishing it as one of the fastest electric vehicles on the market.
Porsche Taycan Turbo GT: Design
Instead of going all out with a radical redesign, Porsche has given its flagship Taycan model a subtle but noticeable update, keeping it looking modern with just a few little tweaks here and there. In contrast to the somewhat camouflaged units of the prior version, the new headlights are completely blended with the bodywork. Additionally, the front bumper has been redesigned with new air intakes, giving Turbo variants a more aggressive and assertive look.
Subtle changes, such as new alloy wheel designs, keep the new Taycan's silhouette mostly unchanged. Although 21-inch wheels are available as an addition for a sharper appearance, the base setup comes with 19-inch wheels. Just like that, Porsche has expertly managed to update its flagship model while keeping its classic good looks.
Porsche Taycan Turbo GT: Interior
Standard equipment on the Turbo GT includes lightweight Race-Tex and leather carbon fibre bucket seats with 'Turbo GT' embroidered on the headrests for a unique look. The 12-o'clock marker adds a touch of sportiness to the elegant steering wheel that is adorned with black Race-Tex material. Just like the Porsche Turbo S, the Sports Chrono package adds a touch of extra class as standard equipment; you can even have the trim coloured silver or blue if you choose.
The upgraded Weissach package has a similar layout but removes the back seats to put more emphasis on the performance. A minor but noticeable branding aspect to this upgraded Turbo GT is the Weissach insignia that appears on the passenger side of the dashboard.
Porsche Taycan Turbo GT: Performance
The Porsche Turbo GT and Turbo GT Weissach both produce a whopping 1093bhp for a few seconds before settling into a strong 778bhp for long-term performance. As a result of the staggering peak torque of 1,339Nm, Porsche strengthened the Taycan's two-speed gearbox and adjusted the gear ratios. In contrast, the Taycan Turbo S produces 616bhp (750bhp on overboost).
With a time of 2.2 seconds from 0-100km/h with the Weissach package and 2.3 seconds without, the Turbo GT quickly establishes itself as the fastest Porsche on public roads when it comes to acceleration. This performance distinguishes the Turbo GT as Porsche's engineering masterpiece and a leader in acceleration.
