Mini has taken the wraps off its new Cooper Convertible, an open-top, four-seat model with three four-cylinder petrol engines. The 2025 iteration will arrive in three versions – the entry-level C, performance-enhanced S, and the performance-oriented John Cooper Works – on the international market. Mini's Oxford, United Kingdom plant will manufacture the updated Cooper Convertible, with the first deliveries to commence in January 2025.
Under the hood, the 2025 Mini Cooper Convertible gets two 2.0-litre turbocharged engines paired with a dual-clutch automatic transmission (standard). The Convertible C makes 161bhp and 250Nm of torque, while the Convertible S pumps out 201bhp and 300Nm of torque. Mini says the entry-level model accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 8.2 seconds before reaching a top speed of 220 km/h. The S version can do the same in 6.9 seconds and claims a top speed of 237km/h. The powertrain details for the John Cooper Works model are under wraps and will be revealed at the upcoming Paris Motor Show.

New Mini Cooper Convertible: Design
Aligning with the traditional claim of the Mini Convertible – 'Always Open', the new Cooper Convertible has an electrically folding fabric soft-top, which can open within 18 seconds at up to 30km/h; it closes in 15 seconds. Regardless of speed, the soft top can be partially opened to a length of 40cm to double as a sunroof. When the top is down, the storage space shrinks to 160 litres from 215 litres when the top is closed. The 'integrated rollover protection system' is standard and is activated automatically when the central safety electronics detect a risk of rollover.
As an optional extra, the woven, black drop top is available with a grey Union Jack, a nod to the brand's British origins. The vehicle has an octagonal grille featuring horizontal struts, flanked by round LED headlamps with three different light signatures and welcome/goodbye animations. The rear fascia sports vertically stacked LED headlamps, with the Cooper lettering in the middle. The vehicle is 3,879mm long, 1,744mm wide, and 1,431mm tall. The wheel size varies from 16 to 18 inches, depending on the model.
New Mini Cooper Convertible: Interior
Inside, the new Mini Convertible offers a circular 9.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system, with a head-up display behind the steering wheel. Mini offers three interior trim options: Classic, Favoured, and JCW. Each trim offers a distinctive grille, wheelset and brake calliper finish. Also up for offer is a range of colours and patterns for the upholstery and dashboard. The seats in the Classic trim are available in premium fabric or Vescin synthetic leather, while the JCW trim gets a combination of multi-coloured knitted fabric and black synthetic leather with red stitching. The wind deflector between the front and rear seats is standard.
