Mini has officially unveiled the next generation of the Cooper Convertible, ahead of its UK launch in 2016.
With increased wheelbase and overall length, the new Mini Convertible offers greater legroom and headroom for all occupants, particularly for those seated in the rear.
The new, all-electric roof opens and closes in 18 seconds, at speeds of up to 29 km/hr. The soft-top comes with black colour as standard, though buyers have an option of customizing it using ‘Mini Yours’.
The Mini Convertible takes design cues from the 3 Door and the 5 Door Cooper in form of large circular headlamps, the hexagonal radiator grille, the ‘side scuttle’ indicator surrounds and black lower edging to the body panels.
On the power unit front, the Mini Cooper comes with three engine options - two powered by petrol, and one by diesel. The power output varies from 114 bhp to 189 bhp, with the diesel engine the least powerful of all.
A six-speed manual transmission comes as standard, while Mini also offers an automatic gearbox with as many gears as its manual sibling.
The Mini Cooper Convertible goes on sale in the UK in March 2016, with on-road prices starting from £18,475 (Rs 18.45 lakh).
