MG Motor has unveiled the new-generation HS SUV at the Goodwood Festival of Speed scheduled from July 11 to July 14. Compared to the previous iteration, the latest HS has a completely new design, albeit it comes with the same petrol and plug-in hybrid powertrain options.

Speaking of the latter, the second-generation MG HS uses a new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine delivering 168bhp and 275Nm of peak torque. This allows the SUV to accelerate from a standstill to 100km/h in 9.4 seconds. The 1.5T petrol engine comes mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox. The manual transmission is offered as standard. In a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version, MG offers a 141bhp, 1.5-litre petrol engine with a 207bhp electric motor, resulting in a claimed 0–100km/h acceleration time of 6.8 seconds.
