MG Motor India has confirmed that its all-new Comet EV will arrive in India next month. The upcoming model is a compact electric vehicle based on the Wuling Air EV, which is on sale in Indonesia. It has a boxy design and is built on the new GSEV (Global Small Electric Vehicles) platform, which is a product of the joint venture between SAIC, General Motors, and Wuling. The MG Comet EV has a modern and sleek design with split headlamps and takes design cues from its sister brand Wuling's Air EV. It will have a charging point in the middle of the fascia, vertically-stacked twin projector headlamps on both sides, an LED lightbar with a chrome strip, and LED daytime running lights with integrated turn indicators.

The EV will ride on 12-inch steel wheels with wheel covers. It will be offered in five different colours: White, Pink, Blue, Yellow, and Green.

The new MG Comet is expected to offer two Wuling Air EV battery options – a 17.3kWh unit and a 26.7kWh. Going by the speculations, the MG Comet EV's batteries will be locally sourced from Tata Autocomp and will use LFP cells, which are also used in the Tata Nexon EV.
As for its power figures, the Comet EV is likely to have a single front-axle motor, which will generate around 67bhp of maximum power. However, details will be made official at a later date.
