As Mercedes-Benz gets ready to introduce the all-new E-Class to Indian customers later this year, it has announced that the luxury saloon will be available for purchase here in a long wheelbase (LWB) configuration. In the latest development regarding the same, the sixth-generation E-Class has been spotted on Indian roads ahead of its official launch. Two test mules of the high-end sedan were seen at a Pune yard. Of the two, one was finished in a black paint job, while the other was decked out in a silver shade. The soon-to-launch E-Class, like other domestically produced Mercedes-Benz models, will be distributed via the Completely Knocked Down (CKD) units from the manufacturer's Chakan factory.

New Mercedes-Benz E-Class: Exterior
The single-slat front grille and reprofiled LED headlamps on either side of the revamped front fascia are surrounded by a piano-black finish. The E-Class LWB has a coupe-like form due to a sharp curve in the roof that occurs just past the C pillar. The vehicle has quad LED taillights at the back with a distinctive star-shaped brake light pattern. Moreover, chrome accents are incorporated around the faux exhaust vents on the rear bumper. Other striking design features include the 18-inch dual-tone machine-cut alloy wheels and flush-fitting door handles.
When it comes to dimensions, the new E-class measures 5,092mm in length, 1,880mm in width, and 1,493mm in height. The wheelbase stands at 3,094mm.
New Mercedes-Benz E-Class: Powertrain
There are up to six engine options for the new-gen E-Class available internationally. The India-bound E-Class LWB is expected to come with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol, 2.0-litre diesel, and 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine options, all combined with a 48V mild-hybrid system. Moreover, on the transmission front, all E-Class LWB models will be equipped with a nine-speed automatic gearbox.

New Mercedes-Benz E-Class: Features
The E-Class LWB's dashboard will include a superscreen arrangement, keeping the interior design in line with the newest Mercedes models. Using the most recent MBUX system, this would consist of a 14.9-inch central touchscreen infotainment display, a 12.2-inch digital instrument cluster, and a front passenger infotainment unit.
Additionally, it has a 730-watt 21-speaker Burmester 40 surround sound system with Dolby Atmos, active ambient lighting, paddle shifters, rear-wheel steering, four-zone climate control, dual-tone upholstery, a voice assistant, power-reclining seats featuring ottoman functions, wireless charging, and air suspension. Level 4 autonomous features of the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) will enhance the safety of the new E-Class LWB.
