New Mercedes-Benz E-Class Launched at Rs 78.5 lakh in India

Mercedes-Benz has launched the sixth-generation E-Class long-wheelbase (LWB) model in India, aiming to meet the growing demand for premium vehicles. The E 200 petrol variant starts at Rs 78.5 lakh (ex-showroom), while the E 220d diesel is priced at Rs 81.5 lakh (ex-showroom), and the top model, the E 450 4Matic, costs Rs 92.5 lakh (ex-showroom). Deliveries for the E 200 begin this week, with the E 220d available around Diwali and the E 450 in mid-November. The new E-Class LWB will be produced in India using advanced manufacturing techniques, including an automated body shop line that uses robotics and innovative joining technologies. This production facility is backed by a strong supply chain, supporting Mercedes-Benz's "Make in India" initiatives. With its luxurious features and advanced technology, the new E-Class LWB is set to make a significant impact in the Indian luxury car market.

2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB: Dimensions and Mechanical Details

The new E-Class long-wheelbase (LWB) model is slightly larger than the previous version, with a height increase of 13mm, a length increase of 14mm, and a wheelbase increase of 15mm. Its dimensions now closely resemble those of the S-Class, measuring 5,092mm in length, 1,800mm in width, and 1,493mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,094mm.

It is available in two variants: the petrol-powered E 200 and the diesel-powered E 220d. The E 200 features a 1,999cc four-cylinder turbocharged engine, producing 201bhp and 320Nm of torque. The E 220d comes with a 1,950cc four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine that generates 194bhp and 440Nm of torque. Both models include a 48V mild hybrid system with an integrated starter generator, offering an extra 23bhp and 205Nm of torque for up to 30 seconds. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a nine-speed automatic transmission.

2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB: Exterior and Interior

The new E-Class has a striking exterior, highlighted by a bold grille with a 3D emblem and high-performance LED headlights. It features sleek flush door handles and stylish 18-inch wheels. The rear includes redesigned LED taillights with a three-pointed star motif and a chrome-accented bumper. Buyers can choose from five exterior colours: High Tech Silver, Polar White, Graphite Grey, Nautic Blue, and Obsidian Black.

Inside, the E-Class features a redesigned dashboard with a 14.4-inch central infotainment display and a 12.2-inch digital instrument cluster. A unique 12.3-inch screen is also available for the front passenger. Other highlights include a Burmester 4D surround sound system, a selfie camera, a panoramic sunroof, four-zone climate control, and wireless charging pads for both front and rear passengers.
