Ever since its launch in 2005, the Maruti Suzuki Swift has been a hit on India's hatchback market, with its exceptional quality and reliability. The reasonable price, dependable performance, and efficient design further added to its popularity. Now, Maruti has launched the fourth-gen Swift, an eagerly awaited model, with major exterior and interior upgrades and an updated drivetrain. With five variants to choose from – LXi, VXi, VXi (O), ZXi, and ZXi+ – there's a model for all kinds of customers. Bookings for the model start at Rs 11,000, and deliveries will begin soon. The new Maruti Suzuki Swift competes with the similarly popular Baleno. While each car has its own set of features and design elements, they share a similar price range and target audience, which makes it difficult for customers to choose between the two. 2024 Maruti Swift Vs Maruti Baleno: Exterior 

The latest generation of the Maruti Suzuki Swift brings a fresh look with a new design, which includes headlights, bumpers, and door handles. The Baleno, on the other hand, has a more premium appeal and a larger size. Both models' top-spec variants come with LED headlamps, fog lamps, and taillamps. The Baleno sports 16-inch alloy wheels, while the Swift has 15-inch alloy wheels. In terms of dimensions, the Swift measures 3860mm in length, 1735mm in width, and 1520mm in height, while the Baleno is 3990mm in length, 1745mm in width, and 1500mm in height. This means that the Baleno is 40 mm longer and 10 mm wider but sits 20 mm lower than the new Swift.

The new Swift has received a significant interior overhaul, featuring a fresh dashboard design and a prominent 9-inch tablet-style infotainment system. Additionally, it gets a new instrument cluster with a colour MID screen and revamped air-conditioning controls, reminiscent of those found in the Baleno. While the Swift sports a sleek all-black interior, the Baleno offers a dual-tone option with a blue and black combination. Moreover, the Baleno offers a more spacious interior, thanks to its longer wheelbase of 2520mm compared to the Swift's 2450mm. In terms of cargo space, the Baleno also outshines the Swift's 265 litres with a larger boot capacity of 318 litres. Despite these differences, both models share many switchgear components and have similar interior quality and features.

2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift Vs Maruti Baleno: Drivetrain 

While the Baleno and Swift are closely matched in terms of features, the new 2024 Maruti Swift's drivetrain is one of its major highlights. It now has a 1.2L NA petrol three-cylinder Z-Series engine, delivering 80 bhp and 111.7 Nm of torque. The Baleno, on the other hand, features a 1.2L NA petrol four-cylinder K-Series engine, producing 88.5 bhp and 113 Nm of torque. Both models offer a choice between a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT transmission.

2024 Maruti Swift Vs Maruti Baleno: Pricing 

The Maruti Swift seems to have been priced a bit higher than expected for the segment. The 2024 Swift starts at 6.49 lakh (ex-showroom), which is 25,000 rupees more than the previous model. On the other hand, the Baleno starts at 6.66 lakh (ex-showroom), which is only 17,000 rupees more than the Swift. Even for the top-spec variants, the Swift Zxi+ AGS is priced at 9.49 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Baleno Alpha AGS is priced at 9.88 lakh (ex-showroom), making it 39,000 rupees more expensive than the Swift.
