The new-generation Maruti Suzuki Swift is finally available for purchase in the Indian market. The hatchback comes in five variants: LXi, VXi, VXi(O), ZXi, and ZXi+. The base LXi version retails for Rs 6.49 lakh, while the top-of-the-line ZXi variant carries a price tag of Rs 9.64 lakh. Both prices are ex-showroom figures. Prospective buyers can also bring home the new Swift on a subscription basis, with monthly costs beginning at Rs 17,436. On the mechanical front, the 2024 Swift draws power from an all-new Z-Series 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine. This unit generates 80bhp of maximum power and 113Nm of peak torque. The 5-speed MT and 5-speed AMT transmission options remain the same as before.
Besides this, the carmaker has disclosed the official mileage figures of the model. The fourth-gen iteration boasts a higher fuel efficiency. The 5-speed manual Swift is claimed to achieve 24.8km/l, while the 5-speed automatic variant is expected to return 25.75km/l.

New Maruti Suzuki Swift: Design
In terms of size, the new Swift is 15mm longer, 40mm narrower, and 30mm taller than its predecessor, while keeping the same 2,450mm wheelbase. The design of the new Swift has undergone significant alterations. While keeping its core characteristics of earlier generations, it includes a modified grille with an all-black treatment, updated LED headlights and DRLs, and rear door handles mounted on the doors rather than the C-pillar. Along with new alloy wheels, the vehicle's rear end also features revised taillights. While the ZXI trim comes with basic alloy wheels, the ZXI+ model is equipped with diamond-cut alloy wheels.
New Maruti Suzuki Swift: Interior and Features
Similar to the Fronx, Brezza, and Baleno, the new Swift's interior has been updated with an emphasis on creating a more upscale ambience. It has an updated digital instrument cluster and a new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Moreover, a larger 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 360-degree camera, a head-up display, wireless charging, rear AC vents, and other features are offered with the top-end models.
Compared to the outgoing model, which only had dual airbags even on higher variants, the fourth-generation Swift has six airbags as standard equipment on all variations, along with hill start assist and electronic stability control (ESC).

New Maruti Suzuki Swift: Competition Check
Bookings for the 2024 Swift are currently underway for a token amount of Rs 11,000. In our market, the hatchback takes on the likes of the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and the Tata Tiago. It is priced between Rs 6.49 lakh and Rs 9.65 lakh (both ex-showroom).
