Maruti Suzuki has finally launched the eagerly-awaited new Swift in India, with a starting price of Rs 6.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The legendary hatch has always been among the best-selling models, with its remarkable value package. With a fourth-generation avatar, it now seeks to carry on its history with an extensive list of enhancements, including a new engine. Beginning with the exterior, the hatch looks great, maintaining its classic profile while adopting some contemporary features like a reworked rear bumper, new alloy wheels, updated headlamps, modified fog lamps, and new C-shaped taillamps. New Maruti Suzuki Swift: Engine
The revised Maruti Suzuki Swift has an all-new 1.2-litre three-cylinder Z12E engine that generates 80bhp and 112Nm, which is about 8bhp and 1Nm less than the outgoing K-Series engine. It comes with a 5-speed manual and AMT gearboxes, which have fuel efficiency ratings of 24.8km/l and 25.75km/l, respectively.

New Maruti Suzuki Swift: Interior and Features
The new Swift's interior is similar to that of the Fronx, Brezza, and Baleno. On the feature front, the hatchback is equipped with a new nine-inch SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen infotainment system with wireless smartphone connectivity, Arkamys sound system, Type-C charging port, automatic climate control, updated switchgear, an analogue instrument cluster, a wireless charger, and rear AC vents. Furthermore, all Swift variants will include six airbags as standard.
New Maruti Suzuki Swift: Dimensions and Design
When it comes to the dimensions, the new Swift measures 3,860mm in length, 1,735mm in width, and 1,495mm in height. The wheelbase stands at 2,450mm. The new-generation Swift's overall exterior style is comparable to the existing model since Swift's design has been one of its most distinguishing features. Nonetheless, it receives some cosmetic improvements over the previous model. For starters, it features a new all-black octagonal grille with honeycomb mesh inserts and gloss-black surrounds. It has a new clamshell bonnet, and the front and back bumpers are somewhat reprofiled.
The top-of-the-line models are equipped with 15-inch dual-tone machine-cut alloy wheels, while the lower trims will have 14-inch steel rims. For the top-tier version, the headlamp cluster appears a touch crisper with LED daytime running lights. The taillight clusters have been modified with new C-shaped internals. Moreover, the door handles have returned to their original positions on the rear door, which now features a new rear quarter glass.

New Maruti Suzuki Swift: Bookings, Rivals and Prices
Bookings for the new-generation Swift are already underway for a nominal fee of Rs 11,000. The 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift competes with the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Tata Tiago.
